Mohammad Ghaznavian, a children & women’s rights activist, was arrested on Monday, February 8th, 2010 at Qazvin’s Mellat Park.
According to a report by Change for Equality, after arresting Ghaznavian, agents went to his parents’ house (where he was residing prior to the arrest) and seized his personal belongings. The agents did not give Ghaznavian’s family any explanation regarding the reasons for his arrest.
Ghaznavian is the author of numerous articles and essays on children & women’s rights issues. His articles have been published by many newspapers and websites.
Ghazanavian works at a center for training street kids in the western city of Qazvin, where he is the operations manager. His tireless efforts have been instrumental in the launch and daily operations of the center, which serves the community in the Hadiabad neighborhood of Qazvin.
There is no information about the condition or whereabouts of a children and women’s rights activist who was arrested on Monday afternoon, February 8, , in Ghazvin’s Mellat park.
According to HRANA, more than 72 hours after the arrest of Mohammad Ghaznavian he has not had any contact with his family or friends and despiter their repeated efforts, his family still have no information about the reason for his arrest.
In addition, in its special reports column, Etemad newspaper reported the arrest of Hamid Mafi along with Mohammad Ghaznavian. Mohammad Ghaznavian and Hamid Mafi were members of the content committee of the weekly Hadith in Ghazvin.
It should be noted that Ms. Mina Akbari, Mohammad Ghaznavian’s attorney, has also been arrested.
Mohammad Ghaznavian had sustained injuries in a traffic accident a little while ago and is in need of special medical supervision.
